The district committee is the voice of the neighborhood. Committee members listen to residents, contribute ideas about plans, and advise the city administration. Do you want more influence on what happens in your neighborhood? Then become a committee member in your district or the Weesp city area.
District committees consist of residents from the district or the Weesp city area. They know their neighborhood well and understand what is going on. The district committees advise the daily board on important matters in the neighborhoods.
Elections in March 2026
On March 18, 2026, the municipal elections will take place. On that day, Amsterdam residents also elect the district committee in their own district and the administrative committee in Weesp. Interested? Feel free to attend an information meeting.
Information meetings on location
We organize 2 meetings, in West and East. Everyone is welcome, no matter which district you come from. For example, if you live in Southeast but the meeting in West suits you better, you are warmly welcome.
At the meeting, you will hear what a committee member does and how to become a candidate. Of course, there is room to ask questions.

Running for the district committee
Amsterdam and Weesp residents aged 16 and older can participate alone or as a group of neighborhood residents in the elections with their own list name. You do not have to be a member of a political party.
If you want to participate with a list name, register it no later than December 22, 2025 at Register list name for the committees | Municipality of Amsterdam. You only need to submit the names of candidates on your list by February 2, 2026.
