As of January 2026, we are significantly expanding the subsidy scheme for sustainable homes. Owner-occupiers of homes valued up to €666,000 and Homeowners Associations (VvEs) can apply for financial support for insulation and ventilation measures.

Until now, only homes with a WOZ value up to €370,000 were eligible. The new limit means that more than 37,000 additional households can benefit from the scheme. Social housing is now also included, allowing nearly 17,000 poorly insulated homes to be made more sustainable. The municipality hopes that this will lead to more than 50,000 additional homes being insulated in the coming years.

Lower costs and more sustainable living

With the subsidy, we want to accelerate the sustainability of Amsterdam homes and help residents make their homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and future-proof. Better insulation and ventilation reduce energy consumption and costs.

Conditions and amounts

The subsidy is available for owner-occupiers and VvEs of homes with energy labels D, E, F, or G, or with at least 2 poorly insulated building parts. Homeowners are also required to have an energy advice from the municipality. VvEs need an energy advice for the entire complex. The subsidy is a maximum of €2,500 per home. When using bio-based insulation materials such as wood, flax, hemp, straw, or bamboo, an additional €250 per home is granted.

Applications until 2028

The subsidy scheme runs until June 30, 2028. Applications can be submitted digitally via Subsidy extra insulation. The information on this page is updated this week.

Pels: Sustainability can and must go faster

Alderman Zita Pels (Housing & Sustainability): “The sustainability of our homes must and can go faster. I am proud that we are expanding the Extra Insulation Subsidy so that more Amsterdammers can invest in insulation and ventilation. That is good for the climate, the energy bill, and living comfort.”
