Even without a ship, you can be a floating part of SAIL. On Thursday, August 21, a procession of self-built vessels will sail through the canals of Amsterdam. Sometimes inventive, sometimes simple, but always handmade. Anyone who builds something that floats can participate in the Pieremachocheltocht.
The Pieremachocheltocht is a special parade on the water. Not with normal ships, but with a raft or other construction. Often made from reused or found materials. Anything that is safe and floats is eligible.
For Those Who Love to Create
You can participate, either alone or with a group. No experience is needed. It’s all about having fun and sailing together.
Part of SAIL
The Pieremachocheltocht is not about speed or technique. Participants show their vessels to the spectators along the quay, while live music accompanies the route. Each creation gets the space to stand out.
