The safety risk area in the Centrum city district is extended until January 2, 2026. The area is also expanded to include Nieuwendijk and surroundings and the Koepelkwartier.

The safety risk area was set to expire on October 24, but is extended because there are still weapon-related incidents.

The Area

The area includes, among others, the northern part of Oudezijds Voorburg- and Achterburgwal, Damrak, Nieuwendijk, Prins Hendrikkade, Geldersekade, Nieuwmarkt including underground metro stations, Kloveniersburgwal (northern part), northern part of Spuistraat, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, and Koepelkwartier.

Controls

In this area, the police can frisk for weapons, including so-called random 100 percent controls, where all persons and vehicles in the cordoned-off area are checked.

Safety

Safety risk areas are established to prevent weapon incidents and possession and to ensure the safety and sense of security of attendees and residents.
