On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, residents of Amsterdam may vote for the municipal council, district committees, and the Weesp administrative committee. The candidate lists are now also available, showing all the names of people you can vote for.
Good to know: young people from 16 years old may vote for the district committee. For the municipal council, everyone from 18 years old may vote.
Who you can vote for
Municipal Council
The municipal council consists of 45 members. They determine policy and make the most important decisions about the city. These decisions are implemented by the mayor and aldermen. The municipal council then monitors whether they do their job well.
Administrative and district committees
Besides the municipal council, you also choose the members of the district committees. These representatives mainly deal with issues from your neighborhood, such as livability, facilities, and local plans. For Weesp, an administrative committee is chosen.
