The Apeldoorn city council has invited the well-known publicist and researcher Josse de Voogd to speak on Thursday evening, January 15, about Broad Prosperity during the expert meeting on this topic. He is known for the book ‘The Atlas of Disengaged Netherlands’ and researches how social differences and voting behavior are visible on the map of the Netherlands.

Like the three theme evenings in January, the expert meetings are open to everyone. These expert meetings are scheduled for January 15 and February 5 and are part of the onboarding program to help (candidate) council members prepare for council work in Apeldoorn. On January 15, the topic is Broad Prosperity, a theme that the current city council has taken up with a council working group. On February 5, the expert meeting is about ‘the power of ordinary life,’ a topic stemming from the activities of the youth care working group.

Josse de Voogd studies how people vote in different parts of the Netherlands. He shows that voting behavior is not only related to politics but also to how people live, work, and reside. In light of the upcoming municipal elections, Josse de Voogd is also an exceptionally interesting speaker. During his lecture, he connects to the theme of Broad Prosperity, where not only economic growth but also social cohesion and quality of life are central.

The theme of Broad Prosperity has also been embraced by the municipality of Apeldoorn in recent years. Josse de Voogd says about this: Broad Prosperity is not just about income but also about opportunities, trust, and connectedness. By making these layers visible, we can work together towards a society where everyone counts.

The Broad Prosperity expert meeting is not only intended for (future) council members but also for all other interested parties. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM in the council chamber of the town hall. You are warmly welcome!
