Residents of Apeldoorn can express their view on a changing city in the City Poem. The municipality of Apeldoorn, together with CODA and the City Poet committee, is organizing a poetry contest around the theme Metamorphosis, the national theme of Poetry Week 2026. The contest started on Saturday, January 31 and runs until March 1, 2026.
The theme Metamorphosis fits a time in which everything is in motion, also in Apeldoorn. The city is growing, changing in shape and function, and gaining new residents and new stories. What do you see happening in your city and what does this change mean to you? These questions form the basis for the City Poem.
You can submit a poem, but also another form of language, such as a performance or an experiment with words and sound. The winning work will get a visible place at a construction project in Apeldoorn and thus become part of the city in change.
You can participate until March 1, 2026. Submission is free and open to all residents of the municipality of Apeldoorn. More information about Poetry Week and the contest can be found at coda-apeldoorn.nl/poezieweek.
