Starting Thursday, September 18, Arnhem will deploy extra enforcers around the area of the Central Station. Travelers who feel unsafe can more quickly reach the municipal enforcement officers.
The call for extra enforcers is widespread, says Mayor Ahmed Marcouch: “We have been working together with the NS and police in and around the station for some time. With this extra supervision, we aim to ensure that women feel safer in public spaces and we are taking action against the nuisance and crime that travelers experience.”
Enforcer post open since Thursday
Since Thursday, the municipality has set up a post for municipal enforcers at the Stationsplein. Travelers can more quickly reach the enforcers present if there is an unsafe situation. The post has been established in collaboration with Safety and Service of the NS. Their personnel monitor inside the station, while those from the municipality oversee outside.
Better visibility of our enforcers
“The good thing about this post is that our enforcers working from here are more visible in the area. They will work in pairs at the Stationsplein and in the surrounding area. They are our eyes and ears around the station,” concludes the mayor.
