From September 29 to October 3, Arnhem will host the very first Week of Housing Exchange. Housing corporations Portaal, Vivare, and Volkshuisvesting, together with the municipality of Arnhem, will organize open moments in various places in the city where tenants can get information and personal advice about housing exchange.
Housing Alderman, Paul Smeulders: “Every successful exchange results in two happy households with a better home. For one, this means a larger home, while for the other, it means a smaller and ground-level home. With the Week of Housing Exchange, we want to raise awareness of this wonderful tool and actively support tenants in taking the first step.”
Faster to a suitable home
In a housing exchange, two tenants swap homes. It can be a solution for residents who are looking for a house that better fits their situation. Think of a family that needs more space or an elderly person who wants to live smaller and on one level. By exchanging, a win-win situation often arises: both households live in homes that are more suitable, and movement in the housing market is created.
In conversation with tenants
During the Week of Housing Exchange, staff from the corporations will be present to answer questions and assist tenants in using the national platform Ruilmijnwoning.nl. Visitors can also express their interest, leave their details, or receive support with registration.
Part of the Better Utilization Action Plan
The Week of Housing Exchange is part of the Arnhem Better Utilization Existing Housing Stock Action Plan, in which the municipality works with corporations to make smarter use of existing homes. In addition to housing exchange, there are also initiatives such as the moving coach and the splitting coach.
The open moments will take place in various neighborhoods, including Malburgen, Presikhaaf, Elderveld, Klarendal, Lombok, and Arnhemse Broek. The complete schedule can be found on Ruilmijnwoning.nl and via the websites of the corporations.
