On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Bieb Hoge Vucht will celebrate its first anniversary. This will be celebrated festively! In the past year, more than 48,000 visitors have already visited the library. A great milestone for the neighborhood and the city. Thanks to the great involvement of visitors and volunteers, the library has grown into a place where reading, learning, and meeting come together.

Festive birthday on Saturday, February 28

The official kick-off of the birthday will take place at 11:00 AM. Of course, this includes a festive moment with cake and a candle. Afterwards, there is room to celebrate together that Bieb Hoge Vucht is one year old.

What to do on February 28

After the official moment, there is plenty to experience for young and old in the library. Visitors can, among other things:

  • get their faces painted
  • have a creative photo taken in front of a greenscreen
  • play games
  • browse through books and find new stories

Everyone is welcome to drop by and join the celebration.

More than just books

Since the opening, the services of Bieb Hoge Vucht have been greatly expanded. For example, the opening hours have been extended:

  • Monday: 12:00 – 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

In addition, the book collection has grown and new activities have been added. For young children, there are reading activities such as Kiekeboek, Pretletters, and Peuterpret, which introduce them to reading and the library in a playful way. For adults, Book & Movie evenings are organized, where books and films come together.

There is also a coffee corner to quietly read a newspaper or meet each other, and a DigiTaalhuis where visitors can get help with digital skills. Bieb Hoge Vucht is thus the place in the neighborhood to read, learn, and meet each other.

Reading helps participation

Reading is important. Those who can read can participate. In some neighborhoods, reading or being read to is less obvious. The library encourages this and contributes to equal opportunities, so that everyone – young and old – has the chance to develop. And we like to show that: reading is not only important, it is also fun.
