The municipality of Breda will close all municipal indoor sports facilities at least until Monday morning, January 12, due to the large amount of ice and snow on the roofs. This preventive measure is taken while research is conducted into the load-bearing capacity of the roof structures.
The structures of the sports locations meet all requirements and are safe to use under normal circumstances. Due to exceptional weather conditions and the large amount of snow and ice on the roofs, the roofs are more heavily loaded than usual. Therefore, the municipality of Breda chooses not to take any risks. In the meantime, an investigation is being carried out to determine the load-bearing capacity of the roof structures of the sports facilities.
The sports facilities that will be closed at least until Monday morning at 10:00 am are:

Owners of buildings with, especially flat roofs, are advised to perform the same checks and take measures if necessary.
