Breda has been declared the most play-friendly municipality in the Netherlands and thus wins the prestigious Jantje Beton Prize 2025. The prize was awarded today by H.K.H. Princess Beatrix during a festive ceremony in Gouda. Breda was chosen by a childrens jury, leaving competitors Apeldoorn and Utrecht behind.
The Jantje Beton Prize is awarded to encourage municipalities to improve their play policies. A professional jury, led by Mariëtte Hamer, selected the finalists. Ultimately, a childrens jury chose Breda as the winner. Both the professional jury and the childrens jury were impressed by the variety of play opportunities in Breda and the way social safety is part of the approach.
