This week, Breda residents aged 65 and older from the Centrum and Belcrum neighborhoods will receive an invitation from the Municipality of Breda for the campaign Later is Now. This campaign is about how to stay at home comfortably for longer. The very first meeting is on Wednesday, May 21, at Nieuwe Veste and will be concluded by Mayor Paul Depla.
We are living longer and have more healthy years. So far, so good, but there is also bad news. There is less staff and money available to care for the growing group of older people. It is therefore important that seniors take good care of themselves and each other. This way, any care needs can be postponed as long as possible.
The Later is Now campaign mainly helps seniors with the how. There will be meetings on practical topics such as living alone or traveling by bus, but more serious subjects will not be shied away from. Because when care or help is really needed, how do you get it? Or living at home with dementia, what does that involve?
