The Archaeological Depot of the Municipality of Breda will open its doors wide on Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15! This is special, as normally you cant just walk in here. In the depot at Riethil, the most diverse treasures from the ground are preserved, finds that have been discovered in and around Breda over the past decades. The public can explore on their own initiative or sign up for a guided tour.
Open Depot
The National Archaeology Days on June 14 and 15 will bring the past to life with hundreds of activities across the country. Alderman Marike de Nobel (heritage): “As a hospitable city, we are of course opening the doors to our Archaeological Depot for everyone curious about the past of Breda. The shelves of the depot are full of finds: from prehistoric flint stones to musket balls from the Eighty Years War. This way, everyone can see with their own eyes what happens to the finds after they have been excavated. A glimpse behind doors that usually remain closed.”
