To ensure the safest possible New Years Eve, the Municipality of Breda works with firework-free zones. Based on resident input, the municipality is expanding the number of firework-free zones for New Years Eve. In total, 5 additional zones will be added and one existing zone will be expanded. There are now 22 firework-free areas during New Years Eve in the Municipality of Breda.
Residents were able to provide input via the PlanBreda platform on where firework-free zones are needed. This resulted in 81 responses. The New Years Eve of 2025 to 2026 is the last year fireworks are allowed; from next year onwards, a nationwide fireworks ban applies.
