The municipality of Breda is successfully collaborating with Surplus Social Work. This collaboration is now being expanded with the deployment of an additional community worker for energy transition. On March 13, this was celebrated festively by Surplus and the municipality of Breda. Together with many other organizations, they are working on an inclusive energy transition that is strong both technically and socially.
Community Work as the Key to an Inclusive Energy Transition
Surplus supports residents by activating, connecting, and guiding them on social and societal issues, including the energy transition. The community workers play an important role in this. With the arrival of a community worker for energy transition, even more emphasis will be placed on the challenges surrounding sustainability. This community worker supports the existing community workers and works towards advice on how this approach can be structurally continued after 2025.
The community workers help residents understand sustainability measures and actively involve them in developments in their neighborhood. This approach lowers (social) barriers and increases support, making the energy transition both more inclusive and effective.
