The following eight youths will receive a Youth Ribbon
Chiel Rijkers (9) has set up a cleaning project, together with enforcement and the police, to keep the streets of The Hague clean. Chiel also helps as a waste monitor. This project raises awareness among people about the litter left behind and helps Chiel, along with other children, to create a clean neighborhood.
Hugo Nieuwenburg (13) dedicates himself with much positive energy to activities of Youth Work District Mariahoeve. For example, Hugo helps with the festival The Experience, the open-air cinema, Hague Meet, and during graffiti workshops. He is always ready to assist people in the neighborhood, especially after the terrible drama at Tarwekamp. Through his selfless efforts, Hugo inspires others to make a valuable contribution to society.
Thomas Corstjens (14) assists the residents association Noorderhaghe with various activities and events, such as neighborhood day and outdoor play day. He finds it important to connect with people. Thomas enjoys taking the initiative and motivates other children to help with the neighborhood associations activities. He was also previously nominated for the volunteer award.
Esmee van den Berg (14) has been a volunteer at Manage Madurodam for several years. Esmee supports disabled children during lessons. She participates in the groups or goes to the forest or beach. Esmee wants to work with children in the future and is currently looking into the possibility of following an MBO4 course to become a Specialized Pedagogical Worker.
Ginika Ijomah (18) is involved as an expert by experience in several advisory councils to represent the voice of children in poverty. This underrepresented group is heard through her efforts. She expresses her opinions well and substantiates them strongly. Ginika is active in the Hague Council of Children at the Stichting Leergeld Den Haag. Additionally, Ginika conducts research on child poverty in The Hague. With her efforts, Ginika aims to use her experiences to provide a better future for todays and tomorrows youth.
Brighton Manniesing (19) helps others with loneliness. For example, he provides meditation and coaching to people who are not feeling well for various reasons. As a walking ambassador, he organizes walks to promote healthier living among the elderly. In his spare time, he also enjoys cooking for seniors in the nursing home. Brighton is seen as a role model by young and old alike, as he turns his learning difficulties into positive energy.
Louis Einar van Dijk (21) is responsible for the junior section of the water scouting MacDonald group. Despite challenges related to identity, Louis manages to organize new and fun activities weekly with a varying group of staff and volunteers. Louis wants everyone to have a good time at scouting. Thanks to Louis contributions, changes have occurred in the conversation about gender, and accessible policies are being developed in this area within the association. With quality, continuity, and energy, Louis is available for the association twice a week.
Oumaima Fadlaoui (21) is a volunteer at Stichting2gather and is committed to activities and collaborations in The Hague. She fosters connections and meetings with various target groups. She contributes to providing activities in a nursing home for the elderly and helps organize futsal and kickboxing for young children. As a buddy for the resilient youth project, Oumaima has also exchanged ideas with vulnerable youth to help make a difference in their lives.
