Free SUP and Keep The Hague Clean? Join the SUP Action!
Explore the canals of The Hague in a sporty and sustainable way? It’s possible again! The Municipality of The Hague and kiteboardschool.nl are organizing the fourth edition of the successful SUP action from May to September. Residents of The Hague can paddle for free during these months while contributing to a cleaner city.
Alderman Kapteijns (Raw Materials) is pleased with the success and continuation: This year, residents can help keep the Hague canals clean again. During a trip, a lot of waste is removed from the water, and we will continue this. With this action, we show that sustainability and fun go hand in hand. Together, we make a difference in a fun way.
New this year is the boarding location in Binckhorst. In addition to the familiar departure point at Madurodam, participants can now also get on the water from Brouwerij Kompaan on Saturnusstraat.
Cleaning up litter from your SUP board
Litter in the Hague water is a growing problem with harmful consequences for the environment and livability. With the SUP action, the municipality and kiteboardschool.nl are tackling this problem in an accessible and active way. Participants armed with a paddle and a litter grabber will go on the water and remove waste from the canals before it sinks or breaks down into microplastics.
For everyone with a swimming diploma
Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you are standing on a SUP board for the first time or have experience. The only requirement is that participants must have swimming diploma A. Paddling is available on Wednesdays from Binckhorst and on Saturdays from Voskade at Madurodam. Participants will receive a SUP board and cleaning materials on loan at the site.
