From Monday, June 30 to Monday, August 25, Erasmusplein and Middachtenweg will be closed to all traffic. The municipality and Dunea will carry out work on the road. During the closure, multiple projects will be executed. Temporary access points have been created for emergency services to reach their destinations quickly and safely.

What will happen?

· The asphalt on the roadways and bike paths is outdated and will be replaced.

· The sidewalks will receive new paving.

· Cyclists will have more space at the crossing points on the Moerweg side.

· The traffic lights and their installation will be replaced.

· The streetlights on Erasmusplein, Moerweg, and Middachtenweg will be replaced. New cables will also be laid underground.

· Dunea is working on the water pipeline in Erasmusweg. A part of the pipes will be replaced.

By closing Erasmusplein and Middachtenweg completely at once, the work can be done more safely and quickly. This does mean that there will be diversions for all road users.

Public Transport

Tram lines 16 and 10 will not be hindered by the work and can continue to run over Erasmusplein. The tram stops will remain accessible. EBS bus line 51 will not run over Erasmusplein during the closure. The stops Erasmusplein and Guntersteinweg will be discontinued. Pedestrians and (moped) cyclists

There is a diversion for pedestrians and (moped) cyclists. They can follow the yellow signs.

Through Traffic

For through traffic, there are diversions in various directions:

· From Rijswijk towards The Hague city center, follow the diversion via Generaal Spoorlaan – Burgemeester Elsenlaan – De Genestetlaan.

· Or take the route towards Zuiderpark and Moerwijk; Generaal Spoorlaan – Schaapweg – Loevesteinlaan – Melis Stokelaan. This diversion is for both directions.

· From Hengelolaan, the diversion route goes via Loevesteinlaan – Vreeswijkstraat – Soestdijksekade – Troelstrakade.

Accessibility of Gas Station

Until August 11, the Esso Express gas station is still accessible via Guntersteinweg and Prinses Beatrixlaan. You can enter and exit via this route. From August 11 to August 25, the gas station will not be accessible.

Parking

Temporarily, several parking spots between Erasmusplein and Joan Blasiusstraat will be closed. These will be used by the contractor for material storage and to set up the construction cabin. Signs will be placed at the parking spots that are temporarily out of use.

End of Work

From August 25, Erasmusplein and Middachtenweg will be accessible to all traffic again. From Monday, September 1 to Friday, September 19, the access points for emergency services will be dismantled. In both directions, one lane will still be closed. There will be limited inconvenience for road users.
