The Hague Enforcement Officers Attend Animal Welfare Training
Enforcement officers from the Municipality of The Hague are attending a training on the theme of animal welfare. The training, provided by a ranger from the municipality, focuses on recognizing signs of animal suffering and how to respond. Alderman Robert Barker was present at one of the training sessions to thank the enforcement officers for their commitment and to hand out participation certificates.
Alderman Robert Barker (Public Space, Animal Welfare & Environment) said, ‘Enforcement officers can play an important role in identifying animals in distress. They are in the city every day and see what is happening. Through this training, they know better what to look for and how to report situations, allowing animal suffering to be addressed more quickly. This way, we work together to improve the welfare of all animals in The Hague.’
The training was conducted by an experienced ranger who provided the enforcement officers with practical knowledge and skills. These new trainings are part of the action agenda for animal welfare published last year. “Animal abuse and neglect are unfortunately still a daily occurrence. With this training, we make enforcement officers alert to signs of animals in need of help. By identifying issues early, we can truly make a difference,” said Alderman Barker.
With this training, the Municipality of The Hague emphasizes the importance of animal welfare and the role that enforcement officers can play in it.
