New Bicycle Parking at North Boulevard Festively Opened
Alderman Arjen Kapteijns officially opened the new bicycle parking at the boulevard by the North Beach today. He did this by participating in the Bicycle Parade. Together with The Hagues bicycle mayor Remco de Rijk, Bicycle DJ Cassus, DJ Moussa, and other guests, he rode a lap on his bike through Scheveningen. The parade ended at the new parking, where the alderman symbolically parked his bike first. The new bicycle parking is located on Strandweg, near Zwarte Pad.
Alderman Kapteijns (Mobility): ‘I am very happy that this bicycle parking is open! The Hague wants to become a real bicycle city for all residents. To give all cyclists the space to safely park their bikes, extra parking facilities are needed. Especially on the North Boulevard of Scheveningen, there was a shortage of sufficient bicycle parking spots on busy warm days; with this parking, we are addressing this nicely.’
The new parking is open 7 days a week from 09:00 to 23:00 and in the summer season on Thursdays through Saturdays until 02:00. In addition to this bicycle parking, a new parking facility will soon open at the intersection of Gevers Deynootweg/Zeekant. This parking will also be free and supervised.
More than just a parking facility
The new bicycle parking has space for 545 bicycles, including crate, cargo, and electric bicycles. But the parking offers more than that: there are lockers available, sufficient charging points, and (accessible) toilets. There is also the possibility to rent special beach wheelchairs or a Hague City Bike.
Accessible for Everyone
The bicycle parking is also suitable for people with disabilities. Beach wheelchairs and walkers can be rented, allowing easy access to the beach. There is also an accessible toilet available with a lift and changing table.
Easter Activities
Throughout the Easter weekend, there will be an extra activity. Visitors who park their bikes during the Easter weekend between 10:00 and 14:00 can search for Easter eggs in the parking.
