During the jubilee reception on January 21, ArcelorMittal Staalhandel B.V. was entered into the Golden Book of the municipality of Deventer. The company also received the silver medal.

On January 21, 1826, the company was founded under the name Werle Staal. Over the following two centuries, it underwent several name changes: from Werle Staal to Dikema, then to Arcelor, and finally to ArcelorMittal Staalhandel B.V.

The company has produced generations of craftsmanship and is deeply rooted in the industrial heritage of the city. As a leading player in steel distribution, it plays an essential role in the regional construction and manufacturing industry.

Golden Book

It is the municipal council that, as a sign of appreciation, can decide to include a citizen, company, or institution in the Golden Book. This is accompanied by the awarding of a medal. The Golden Book of Deventer has existed since 1945. The first to be entered in the Golden Book was Thomas Graeme Gibson (1908-1986), the Canadian army officer under whose leadership Deventer was liberated.
