The municipality of Ede has decided to extend the camera surveillance in Ede-south around Huijgenspark for another month. The cameras will now assist emergency services until October 1, 2025. The municipality chooses to extend the use of cameras due to disturbances in and around the park. Mayor René Verhulst: “The disturbances were somewhat variable last summer, but we notice that they have been increasing again lately. We extend the use of cameras to maintain a good overview now that schools are starting again.”
The disturbances range from noise pollution, fireworks disturbances to vandalism. It proves difficult to ascertain who exactly is responsible and thus establish a good approach. Camera surveillance is a valuable addition for detecting and preventing disturbances.
The cameras have been placed within the designated area (see the map below). To make the area known, signs have been placed with an icon of camera surveillance. In principle, the cameras will be removed on October 1, 2025.
