The mayor of Ede has issued an emergency order for the area around Huygenspark. This decision is valid from December 31, 2025, 11:00 PM to January 1, 2026, 7:00 AM and was made to prevent serious disturbances and disruption of public order during the New Years transition.

Reason
Information from the police indicates that very serious disturbances are occurring in and around Huygenspark. Groups of people (approximately 100 in total) have gathered with heavy, illegal fireworks.

They throw fireworks at each other, at homes, but also at the police and other emergency responders. These are dangerous and unacceptable situations.

What does the emergency order entail?

  • It is forbidden to be present in the designated area as a (potential) participant in group activities that disturb public order.
  • It is forbidden to enter the area without a reasonable purpose with objects that can be used to cause disturbances, such as (illegal) fireworks, flammable materials, sticks, stones, balaclavas, and disguises.
  • Wearing clothing that completely covers the face or deliberately makes one unrecognizable is not allowed.
  • Instructions from police and enforcement officers must be followed immediately.

Failure to comply with this emergency order is a criminal offense and may lead to prosecution.

Area and duration
The emergency order applies to the area around Huygenspark in Ede and is in effect from December 31, 2025, 11:00 PM to January 1, 2026, 7:00 AM.
