In recent weeks, the police found a large quantity of fireworks in a house on Rubenstraat in Ede. The discovery was made following a regional targeted police check. The amount far exceeds the permitted storage limit, is illegal, and poses a serious safety risk to residents and neighbors.

Mayor René Verhulst: “It is of course a bizarre amount of fireworks we are talking about now. Storing this amount of fireworks is not only dangerous for yourself, but for your entire neighborhood. Really ridiculous to keep that in or near your house. That is why I want to take action against it.” The residents of the property will receive an administrative warning next week. Next time, the house will be closed for a certain period. Of course, penalties will also follow through the police.

Awareness

The municipality calls on residents to be alert to dangerous situations and to handle fireworks responsibly. Residents are asked to report suspicious situations to the police or via Meld Misdaad Anoniem. With the measures taken, the municipality aims to prevent recurrence and increase awareness of the dangers of illegal storage and sale.
