The college of mayor and aldermen has today proposed to the municipal council to make money available again for the Starter Loan. Last year, the starter loan was widely used and is now being extended due to success. An amount of 7 million euros will be made available to support starters in Ede in purchasing their first home.
In early 2024, the starter loan became available again for buyers in Ede. The loan amounts to a maximum of €30,000 and is for homes with a purchase price of up to €355,000. Last year, 71 people made use of the starter loan. Unfortunately, the budget was depleted by the end of the year.
The housing market is still under pressure and it remains particularly difficult for starters to purchase a home. Therefore, the college has decided to make budget available again for this target group. Alderman van der Beek; “In addition to our efforts to accelerate housing construction, the starter loan is a very concrete and direct instrument to support residents in purchasing a home.” It is expected that approximately 250 loans can be granted from the new budget.
The municipal council is expected to make a decision on the proposal before the summer vacation. Information about applying for the starter loan will be made available as soon as possible after this decision via the website https://www.ede.nl/aanvragen-en-regelen/starterslening.
