The Rijksmuseum and the Municipality of Eindhoven join forces to build a branch of the Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven. Visitors will be able to admire artworks from the world-famous Rijksmuseum collection in the future. ASML intends to make a meaningful contribution as a founding partner to this top cultural facility for the region in the coming years.

Eindhoven is a city of makers where technological innovation and design are central. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven will be a dynamic place where exhibitions will be created from new perspectives with a focus on creativity and craftsmanship. The museum building will be located in a green environment by the Dommel, close to the station.

Taco Dibbits, Director-General of the Rijksmuseum: The Rijksmuseum is for everyone. The museum has a world-famous collection of more than 1 million objects and is continuously working to share the collection in various ways with all of the Netherlands. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven is an important step in making the collection even more accessible in the South Netherlands. The Rijksmuseum has long been connected to Eindhoven, with Philips as a founder for 25 years, alongside main sponsors KPN, ING and the Friends Lottery. I look forward to adding ASML for Eindhoven to this.

Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Mayor of Eindhoven: This is a great opportunity that we seize with both hands to make it a reality as soon as possible - together with the Rijksmuseum, ASML and other future partners. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven is a valuable addition to the cultural climate of Brabant and beyond. Art and history have a connecting power in our rapidly growing Brainport region. This museum can become a place where everyone, young and old, can enjoy a special combination of history and creativity.

Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML: As an international company rooted in the Netherlands, ASML and its employees are proud to be connected to the Rijksmuseum and enthusiastic to support this initiative, together with the Municipality of Eindhoven. Attracting this world-famous institution to the region not only gives more people the chance to enjoy the artistic and cultural treasures of the museum, but also strengthens Brainport Eindhoven as a cultural destination and as a great place to live and work.

Dynamic meeting place

The museum will be a dynamic meeting place with an open character and unmistakably Rijksmuseum. The area of the new building will be over 3500 square meters. The plan will be further developed in the coming year. The ambition is that the Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven will open in 6 to 8 years.

Park

The new museum will be located by the Dommel, in a new park in the middle of the city. It is situated at the beginning of Kennedylaan and a few minutes walk from Eindhoven Central Station. This makes it easily accessible for residents of the city and visitors from home and abroad.

800 years of art and history

As a national museum of art and history, the Rijksmuseum tells the story of 800 years of the Netherlands and places it in an international context. The museum is world-famous for its masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, Rachel Ruys and many others. The collection of more than one million objects consists of paintings, sculptures, furniture, glassware and porcelain, fashion and textiles, photos and drawings, and Asian art. With the new museum in Eindhoven, the Rijksmuseum can increase the visibility of its collection and make art accessible to a broader audience.
