In addition to the awards, sports medals were also awarded to Eindhoven sports champions. They received a medal when they achieved a first place during an officially recognized Dutch Championship or a podium finish during a European Championship, World Championship, Olympic, or Paralympic Games. They could have their medal engraved with a self-chosen text. This was enthusiastically utilized. Around 300 sports medals were awarded.
Eindhoven clubs make societal impact
Many sports providers work weekly, and some even daily, to get people moving and unite them. They are increasingly setting up social initiatives. To highlight clubs during this sports gala, this year we sought initiatives that had made a societal impact. Three sports clubs received a cash prize of 2000 euros: the Eindhoven Water Friends, vv Nieuw Woensel, and RC de Lichtstad. With this money, they can give their club or initiative a boost.
Show full of entertainment
Between the award presentations, there were various forms of entertainment. The evening was opened by a group of children who paid tribute to all present athletes. This immediately set the tone for the evening. The dancers of Beyond in Motion illustrated the power of sport with their act. During the show, Robot Pepper presented the Sportsman of the Year award, and the Talent of the Year received his award from one of Eindhovens oldest athletes, Marianne Maandonks (98). The sports gala concluded with Broadway Brass Band
