The fourth construction phase of Strijp-S has begun. On Friday, September 19, this milestone was celebrated with residents, entrepreneurs, companies, and development partners.
Over the past 20 years, Strijp-S has undergone an impressive transformation. From a closed Philips site to a vibrant district in the heart of Eindhoven. But there will be more construction in the coming years. With phase 4 underway, the next steps in this unique area development are being taken.
The first works for the construction of an underground parking garage next to the Microlab are underway. Once completed, the construction of 150 residential lofts and 11 work lofts by Woonbedrijf will follow. This year, the realization of 177 homes in the Glasgebouw will also start. And in 2026, the construction of Delta (Trudo) and the buildings Exo, Block, Sync, Spark, and Pulse (SDK Vastgoed) is expected. In phase 4, a total of another 1480 homes, 47,900 m² for offices and makers, and 7000 m² for facilities and public functions will be created.
BIZ and Residents Association
During Vier Strijp-S, the plan for the establishment of a Business Investment Zone (BIZ) was also presented. With this BIZ, entrepreneurs want to jointly invest in liveliness, safety, new ideas, and events. Entrepreneurs can vote on the introduction of the BIZ until October 31. If the result is positive, the BIZ Strijp-S will start in January 2026. The new residents association New Rootz for all of Strijp-S was also presented. Both initiatives contribute to a stronger connection in the area and a pleasant environment to live, work, and recreate.
From Factory Site to Creative Hotspot
In 2002, the municipality of Eindhoven and VolkerWessels purchased Strijp-S from Philips in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). With an area of 27 hectares, Strijp-S was the first major development site in Eindhoven. Together with partners such as Woonbedrijf, Trudo, and real estate parties, a new residential area and place full of creativity, talent, and innovation is being built. A total of about 5000 homes will be realized on Strijp-S, and there is space for 150,000 m² for companies, education, makers, shops, and meeting places. More information can be found at strijp-s.nl.
