The Municipality of Eindhoven intends to allocate temporary funds to WIJeindhoven for the coming two years. To strengthen the organization and further develop services in line with Koers Sociaal (2)040 and simplification of the Social Domain. The two-year boost provides stability and space to retain expertise, simplify processes, and build a future-proof organization. The Executive Board will submit this proposal to the Eindhoven municipal council, which is expected to discuss it in March.
WIJeindhoven performs statutory tasks in Eindhoven under, among others, the Social Support Act (Wmo), Youth Act, Participation Act, and debt counseling. As a strategic implementation organization, WIJeindhoven plays an important role in realizing the transformation within the social domain.
Alderman Saskia Lammers (Poverty and Debt): “WIJeindhoven is an important partner for us in the city. Residents can turn to the neighborhood teams close to home with their stories and requests for help and support.”
WIJeindhoven faces rising personnel costs and therefore needs extra space to implement necessary improvements. This space helps to further shape the movement of Koers Sociaal (2)040 and the desired simplification without having to take drastic measures in the short term.
In the coming two years, a joint reorientation on tasks, positioning, and financing will take place. This contributes to strengthening operations, clearer task and role definitions, and more efficient capacity deployment. Processes will also be simplified and information provision improved to better manage caseload, quality, and results. This reorientation should ensure a clear and efficient setup from 2028, supported by benchmarking and substantiation.
Lex van Eijndhoven (director-manager WIJeindhoven): “We also see this as recognition from the municipality for WIJeindhovens role in the city. It gives us the space to carefully work together with the municipality on improvement and a future-proof organization of services for residents.”
It concerns 2.5 million euros in 2026 and 2027, and additionally half a million euros is available for the implementation of the reorientation. The deployment of these funds is combined with efficiency measures by WIJeindhoven in coordination with the municipality to create space for both stability and renewal.
