We have approved the plans to build a parking garage with 284 parking spaces on the Sonneborn site in Haarlem North.
For the implementation of the plans, the municipality signs 2 agreements with developer VORM and contractor Ouwehand. The construction starts early 2026 and will take approximately 2.5 years.
Green and climate resilient
The design pays a lot of attention to greenery and sustainability. The roof of the parking garage will be a garden with many different plants. This provides more greenery and biodiversity in the neighborhood.
The roof will also have a water storage of 300 m³. It collects rainwater and drains it slowly. This way, the area is better prepared for the effects of climate change such as heavy rain.
Reduces parking pressure in the neighborhood
The new parking garage is part of the parking policy with which we want to reduce parking pressure in the city. Of the 284 parking spaces, 25 will be owned by housing association Pré Wonen and 77 by the owners of the new owner-occupied homes. 182 parking spaces will be owned by the municipality. These spots are intended for residents of the neighborhood.
More information
In addition to a parking garage, there will also be 160 homes, a womens shelter, and a shop on the Sonneborn site. More information about the project and the planning can be found on the project page.
