We are allocating additional funds for events over the next 3 years. As a result, events positively evaluated by the independent advisory committee will still receive subsidies. Previously, there was insufficient budget for this. With this decision, we support a diverse range of events in the city.

We are doing this because the number of good applications exceeded the available budget. We had 20ac2,250,000 available for events. More than 20ac3,300,000 in subsidies was requested. As a result, some positively evaluated events fell outside the scheme.

4 events

With the extra money, we ensure that more events can proceed. We are adding 20ac515,972 to the budget. That is 20ac171,990.66 per year. With this amount, 4 events will still receive 60% of the requested subsidy amount. These are Het Houtfestival, Ecofest 2026, Spaarnestad Concert, and Buiten het Boekje. The Bloemencorso also receives extra funds. This event previously received less subsidy than requested and is now supplemented. The subsidy is granted for 3 years. This gives organizers more certainty.

New policy

Since June 2025, a new events policy has been in effect with new rules and an independent external advisory committee. They assess applications based on significance for the city, quality, livability, sustainability, organization, and reach. Together, we ensure a lively and livable city, with events throughout the year for different target groups, spread across various locations.
