The city council has approved the final design for the redevelopment of 7 neighborhoods in Meerwijk. We can now begin preparations.

The streets in these neighborhoods have sunk and the sewer system is outdated. Therefore, work will be done both above and below ground. The redevelopment prepares Meerwijk for the future: more greenery, better water management, and new play and meeting places.

Participate in green spaces, play, and socializing

The final design for the 7 neighborhoods is part of the larger plan for 13 neighborhoods in Meerwijk. The plans for the first 6 neighborhoods were approved in 2022. Work has already started in those areas. Now the design for the remaining 7 neighborhoods and 3 main roads is ready: Briandlaan, Braillelaan, and Stresemannlaan.

At the beginning of 2025, residents were able to provide their advice and wishes regarding greenery and play and meeting places. Social safety and parking were also discussed. This resulted in better lighting in some areas and pruning shrubs that block visibility.

Work schedule

In 2026, a detailed design will be made. Execution begins in 2028 and lasts until 2032. First, cables and pipelines will be replaced. Then the sewer system will be renewed and new streets, sidewalks, and greenery will be installed. We want the neighborhood to remain accessible. Therefore, not all neighborhoods will be worked on simultaneously. The schedule is coordinated with other projects in the area.
