Do you have a HaarlemPas and does your pet need to visit the veterinarian? Support is available from January 19, 2026.
There are 2 reimbursements: general veterinary costs and castration/sterilization of your cat. This is a pilot to see how we as a municipality can support owners and their pets.
Veterinary costs
Some veterinarians in Haarlem reimburse up to 20ac 200 directly. This covers all matters that help keep your pet healthy. Think of consultations, treatments, medicines, and more. If necessary, the money can also be used to euthanize a sick or old animal. The condition is that you bring a valid HaarlemPas.
Check the map(link is external) and search for dierenarts at the top to find a clinic near you.
Cat castration/sterilization
If you want to castrate or sterilize your cat and have a valid HaarlemPas, you can apply for a voucher between January 19 and March 1, 2026. With this voucher, you can have your cat chipped and castrated or sterilized for free. This helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the number of cats ending up in shelters or on the street.
There are 175 vouchers. When theyre gone, theyre gone, so dont wait too long. You can apply for the voucher from Monday, January 19 on the website Kattencastratie.(link is external)
