In 2025, money is also available for good ideas from Haarlemmers. Would you like to help decide who gets that money? And do you live in Southwest? Then sign up for the Initiative Council.
Every year, Haarlemmers can submit a plan to make their neighborhood better or more enjoyable. For example, a green project, a neighborhood party, or something for young people. The city decides who gets money for their idea. This is done through the Initiative Council: a group of 5 residents, 1 from each area. They review all plans and allocate the money. A municipal employee assists in this process but does not decide. This way, Haarlemmers determine what is important themselves.
Sign up for the Initiative Council
We are looking for a new member from Southwest, as the current member is stepping down. You will be in the council for a maximum of 2 years. The council meets about 12 times a year. It takes about 4 hours a month. You will not receive any compensation, but you will help make Haarlem more beautiful.
Anyone over the age of 16 who lives in Southwest can sign up. This can be done until Monday, October 20. Send an email to tgoldschmidt@haarlem.nl. Include in the subject: Initiative Council. Mention your name, address, and phone number in the email. A lottery will be held to determine who participates.
