Its back! The Christmas tree on the Grote Markt. The tree is a silver fir and is over 18 meters tall. It is decorated with 10,000 LED lights.

The tree comes from Germany where it stood in a private garden. It had to be removed there and now it gets a second life as a Christmas tree.

Spaarnelanden brought the tree early Monday morning, December 8, to the Grote Markt. The tree was placed in a special hole in the ground so it stays upright. For this, the trunk had to be cut to size first. Then it was hoisted into place and decorated with 10,000 sustainable LED lights.

On December 30, Spaarnelanden will remove the Christmas tree again. The trunk will be preserved to be reused as best as possible.
