The executive board has appointed Director of Operations Koen Radstake as acting municipal secretary and general director of the Municipality of Haarlem.

Radstake will replace Catrien Lenstra as of February 1, 2026, who is leaving for the Municipality of Amsterdam to become municipal secretary there. 

The recruitment of a new municipal secretary is expected to take several months. The executive board has chosen a temporary acting appointment to ensure continuity and progress within the organization. 

Extensive experience

Radstake has been working at the Municipality of Haarlem as Director of Operations since October 2023. Since then, he has been part of the management team. Radstake has extensive experience as a municipal secretary. From September 2015 to October 2023, he held this position at the Municipality of Velsen. 

The acting appointment will last until a new municipal secretary is appointed. Recruitment for a permanent successor to Lenstra will start after the Christmas recess.
