In a Just Together Home Neighborhood, residents and organizations collaborate to create a neighborhood where people can live comfortably and independently at home for as long as possible, even as they age and require more support.
This new way of living is part of the Housing and Care Action Program 2025-2030 Just Together Home. Our goal is to have enough homes that meet various needs so that people can live as long and independently as possible, preferably in their own neighborhood. It is also important that support and care are available, that there is space to meet each other, and to do enjoyable activities. It aligns with existing developments in the region, such as the Long Life Home Flats in Amsterdam, but also with initiatives started in Haarlem, such as the Neighborhood as Ecosystem (external link) in the Vijfhoek area.
In Schalkwijk, Noord and Centrum
The development of a Just Together Home Neighborhood starts at the following 3 locations:
- Nieuw Meerwijk (Meerwijk – Schalkwijk)
- Johan Limpershof (Delftwijk/Waterbuurt – Haarlem Noord)
- De Roos (Rozenprieel – Haarlem Centrum)
For this, we collaborate with the housing corporations (Elan Wonen, Woonzorg Nederland and Pré Wonen), care organizations (Zorgbalans and Kennemerhart) and the welfare organization Buurts. The regional Care Office Zilveren Kruis is also part of the cooperation.
Everyone can participate
We want everyone in Haarlem to feel at home and involved in the neighborhood and to participate. In a Just Together Home Neighborhood, everyone looks out for each other in their own way and makes an active contribution. Plans for activities, support and care offerings are made together with residents and any informal caregivers. Think of coffee mornings or a care point in the residential complex.
Existing buildings are used for a Just Together Home Neighborhood. Together with employees of the housing corporation, the care and welfare party and residents, a community is formed in the 3 neighborhoods. With the start of the Just Together Home Neighborhood, we gain experience with an innovative and proven effective approach to care, welfare and living.
