The new regional bus station along the Schipholweg will be called Haarlem Spaarnepoort. On September 20, we revealed the name.
The name of the public transport hub was chosen by a jury from over 1,000 submissions from residents. The creators of the name were present at the festive unveiling.
Meaning of the Name
The name Spaarnepoort refers to the location of the bus station along the Spaarne. The name fits with other places in the city, such as Spaarneplein and Spaarnepark. The word ‘poort’ shows that the hub is a gateway to and from Zuid-Kennemerland.
This is what the bus station will look like
Haarlem Spaarnepoort will be a green space that is easily accessible by bike. There will be 8 bus stops, an underground bike parking facility, and a pedestrian passage. You will soon travel quickly to Amsterdam, Schiphol, and surrounding municipalities.

Collaboration and Next Steps
The public transport hub Haarlem Spaarnepoort is a joint project of the municipality of Haarlem, the province of North Holland, the Joint Regulation Accessibility Zuid-Kennemerland, the Transport Region Amsterdam, and the State. The final design of the hub will be approved soon.
