The skatehall at Minckelersweg will remain at the same location for the next 5 years. We are extending the lease agreement until 2030. Meanwhile, we are looking for a permanent location.

The skatehall is important for Haarlem. It is an initiative by residents. In 2015, Thomas Adamidis started a campaign for an indoor skatepark. He wrote a letter to the alderman and received support from 2,500 people. This is how the skatehall came about. The hall is financially independent. Many people come, and there is a fixed group of skaters. The skatehall is part of the citys sports life, nightlife, and culture.

Future in the Waarderpolder

We are considering whether the skatehall can have a place in the southern strip of the Waarderpolder in the future. There we are working on a plan for an attractive area for knowledge and manufacturing companies. We also want the southern strip to attract visitors and be a pleasant place to stay. We are investigating whether the skatehall and hospitality fit in there. At the same time, we are also looking at other possible locations where the skatehall can remain permanently.
