We temporarily close the Leidsevaart near the Prins Hendrik Bridge due to the poor condition of the quay. Repair work will begin in February. Cyclists and motorists are being directed around the work area.

Previously, maintenance was postponed because there was a power cable in the quay supplying electricity to the city center. This cable is now out of service. This allows us to take measures to improve safety.

Alternate traffic regulation

During the work, an alternate traffic regulation applies for motor vehicles. Traffic coming from the Zijlbrug can no longer turn onto the Prins Hendrik Bridge. Cyclists can still do so. For cyclists, we have installed a bike sluice towards the Zijlbrug. This way, they can cycle safely and separated from the roadway.

Work activities

We expect the work to be completed by the end of February. Within 2 years, we will restore the entire quay section with sheet piles between the Prins Hendrik Bridge and the Zijlbrug. This ensures the quay will last for many more years.
