We are converting the building at Noord Schalkwijkerweg 113 into housing for 6 homeless and at-risk youth. We are renovating the building together with the organization Bedrijf en Samenleving. The renovation will be completed in spring 2026.
The building is being renovated and made more sustainable. We are installing insulating windows. The crawl space, walls, and roof will also be insulated. We are installing a heat recovery system. The building will have 6 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a shared kitchen.
After the renovation, 6 homeless and at-risk youth will have affordable housing and support here. The youth decide how long they want to stay.
Social Use
We use our buildings to implement policy plans. The municipality had no further plans for the building at Noord-Schalkwijkerweg. Therefore, it was on the list to be sold. Before selling anything, we first ask social organizations if there is interest.
In this case, the organization Bedrijf en Samenleving expressed interest in using the building to house homeless and at-risk youth. It is suitable because it is quiet and easily accessible. Therefore, the municipality decided not to sell it after all.
