From January 12, the Hillegommer Bridge over the ring canal will be closed to cars for four weeks. Not for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge connects Beinsdorp, Nieuw-Vennep, and Hillegom and is an important traffic connection between Haarlemmermeer and the region. Due to the closure, motorists must allow for detours and extra travel time. The works last until February 13, 2026.

Car traffic

Many motorists use the Hillegommer Bridge daily. Especially traffic between Nieuw-Vennep and Hillegom, and towards Heemstede and Haarlem, often uses this route. During the works, this is not possible. Traffic is redirected via other roads. This may lead to extra congestion.

Pedestrians and cyclists

Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use the Hillegommer Bridge. The bridge itself will not be modified; the municipality is adjusting the intersection near the bridge. This will make it safer. The pedestrian crossings will also become clearer, and new traffic lights will be installed. At the bus stops on the dike, the sidewalks will be raised to facilitate boarding and alighting.

Routes

Driving by car from Nieuw-Vennep to Hillegom or Heemstede? Drive via Drie Merenweg or the N207 towards Hillegom. From the IJweg – Venneperweg intersection, there are detours. Detour signs are placed in Beinsdorp and Hillegom.
