The mayor closed a business premises on Karveelweg 30B in August 2025. Substances were found in the premises that may fall under the Opium Act. There were also items indicating the preparation of drug trade. Therefore, it was decided to close the premises urgently.

About designer drugs

The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) investigated the company that was located in the premises. This company sold designer drugs. Designer drugs resemble real drugs but have a different composition. As a result, they did not previously fall under the law. Since July 1, the law has been amended. Now most designer drugs do fall under the Opium Act.

Prohibited substances

The companys website has been linked to several deaths in the Netherlands and Belgium. During the investigation, the NVWA found substances that may be prohibited. There were also items indicating the preparation of drug trade. Due to the seriousness of the situation and the large-scale sale, the premises were immediately closed.
