“After a long preparation, we are happy to start the construction now,” says Sarah Klein Haneveld, managing director of Maasvallei. “We are creating accessible homes in a place where people can live well and comfortably.”

The homes are nearly barrier-free and can be accessed by lift or directly from the ground floor. They are suitable for starters, single-parent families, and seniors. The apartments vary in size from approximately 68 to 75 m² and have a terrace or loggia. The new construction consists of 2 residential blocks, each with 3 floors. The site will also include a storage area for bicycles and mobility scooters with charging points and eight parking spaces.

Councilor Johan Pas: “As the municipality of Maastricht, we find it important that there are enough suitable and social rental homes for our residents.”

Integration into the Heer District 

Heer is located on the southeast side of Maastricht. The district still has the character of an independent village, with amenities such as shops and schools nearby, and the center of Maastricht within walking and cycling distance. The design of the new construction takes into account the surroundings and the previous buildings on this site. Characteristic elements, such as arches and masonry, are reflected in the facades. A green hedge will surround the buildings as a natural transition to the neighborhood.

Construction with Attention to the Environment 

The demolition work has recently been completed. Now the construction starts. “We realize that we are guests in the neighborhood. We pay close attention to the environment,” says Rob Salden, director of Construction Realization at Laudy. “We want to communicate clearly and openly. This helps to minimize any inconvenience that may be experienced.”

Expected Completion in Spring 2026
