Did you know that the Netherlands is one of the most illuminated countries in the world? That is why municipalities, businesses, and residents turn off the lights that evening. We are also participating in the night from Saturday, October 25 to Sunday, October 26!

From Saturday to Sunday, we turn off the spotlights illuminating the special buildings of the Municipality of Maastricht. These are buildings in the city center and Wyck such as the Helpoort, the City Hall, and the Theater aan het Vrijthof. This is to raise awareness about light pollution. Because unnecessary lighting disrupts the rhythm of people and animals, can disturb our sleep, and is a waste of energy.

Will you join us? Turn off unnecessary lighting and enjoy the darkness. Various activities are also organized. Discover what you can do at www.nachtvandenacht.nl
