On Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2025, the Gravel World Championship will take place in our region. The course of this cycling spectacle runs through Beek, Beekdalen, and Maastricht. The finish is at the Green Carpet, near the Koningsplein.

Green Carpet

Please be aware of various traffic measures in Maastricht, especially at the Green Carpet.

  • A part of the Green Carpet will be closed to traffic from October 7 to 13. Parking will not be allowed here.
  • During the construction work starting from October 9, sections of the Green Carpet will be regularly closed off.
  • The central path of the Green Carpet will be closed to all traffic from October 10 to 12, from the Kolonel Millerstraat to the roundabout.
  • The President Rooseveltlaan will be partially closed from October 9 due to construction work. A part of the President Rooseveltlaan will be closed to all traffic on October 11 and 12.
  • The Meerssenerweg towards Meerssen will be closed on October 12.

Residents have received a letter from the organization.

What is the Gravel World Championship?

Gravel is a form of cycling. Cyclists ride on various types of roads: asphalt, gravel paths, and sandy roads. The Gravel World Championship is organized every year by the international cycling union UCI. Cyclists from all over the world participate.

The Gravel World Championship is on the weekend of October 11 and 12, 2025. On Saturday, the race is for elite women, and on Sunday, the race is for elite men. All information about start times, routes, and additional activities can be found at www.ucigravel2025.com
