Elderly people must feel safe and be safe. Unfortunately, 1 in 20 elderly individuals experiences abuse. We often think of bruises, but it can also involve financial abuse, neglect, and verbal violence. We have documented the signs in the form of a fan. This has been distributed among professionals and volunteer organizations. We want to make the signs and thus elder abuse a topic of discussion. If you are worried about an elderly person, please take action. How? You can read that on this page.
If signs of elder abuse are recognized earlier, action can be taken sooner. This way, elderly people receive the right help earlier and we can prevent worse outcomes. The elder abuse fan helps recognize the signs.
Are you worried about an elderly person?
Don’t keep it to yourself. Maybe there’s nothing wrong, but what if your concerns are justified? Then you can play an important role. Talk to the elderly person and discuss your concerns. Ask what the elderly person thinks and who a reliable contact person is. Try to get in touch with the person you think is not treating the elderly person well. If possible, express your concerns. That can already be an important step.
