From September 22 to November 7, we will be working on the Sint Servaas Bridge. We will maintain the existing lights and install new LED lights under the bridge. The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists in both directions.

What are we going to do?

We will maintain the existing lights of the Sint Servaas Bridge. Under the bridge, we will install new LED lights. We will start work on September 22 and expect to be finished by November 7.

The new LED lights are energy-efficient and friendly to animals such as bats and fish. They also provide beautiful lighting on the bridge. The design is based on the idea “Sint Servaas Bridge in the light” by the late Louis Prevot.

This project is part of Stadsgoud: an initiative of the Elisabeth Strouven Fund. Here, residents of Maastricht received funding for ideas to improve and enhance the city.

How are we going to do that?

We will carry out the work with a special aerial work platform. This allows us to safely reach around and under the bridge.

We will work one by one on the 7 arches of the bridge. We will start at the arch on the city center side and finish at the one on the Wyck side. We will spend about 1 week per arch.

Accessibility

The bridge remains open for pedestrians and cyclists in both directions. One half of the roadway is always closed. In some places, it may be a bit tight. Traffic controllers will ensure that you can pass safely and quickly.

Working hours and noise

We work on weekdays between 07:00 and 17:00. We try not to let the work run into the evening or weekend. The times may shift slightly due to bad weather or other unexpected situations.

You may sometimes hear noise from machines and tools. We keep the noise disturbance to a minimum.
