From early July until August 29, 2025, the draft environmental vision 2040 is available for review. In this document, we describe how Maastricht wants to develop into a healthy, sustainable, and livable city in the coming years, with attention to housing, working, meeting, and nature. You can view and respond to the draft environmental vision.

Your opinion matters

You can give your opinion until August 29. This can be done via email or letter:

Drop-in meeting

We will collect the responses and incorporate them into the final environmental vision. The city council will discuss the environmental vision in January 2026.

In September, we will organize a drop-in meeting. There we will explain how we have processed the responses. You will receive more information about this after the summer.

About the draft environmental vision

On www.thuisinmaastricht.nl/meedenken-over-de-omgevingsvisie you can view the draft environmental vision. Such an environmental vision outlines how Maastricht wants to develop. It includes:

• where new housing will be built
• how we will make the city greener and healthier
• how we ensure good accessibility
• how we create space for work, meeting, and relaxation.

The plan has been developed together with residents, social organizations, the Citizens Assembly Maastricht, and the city council.
